We featured Microsoft's Application Platform Specialist Geoff Clarke in a discussion about Business Intelligence (BI). Geoff gave an overview of the various Microsoft BI products and how they come together to deliver strategic, tactical and operational decisions. Those products include SQL Server, SharePoint, Excel and Performance Point Server.

We wrapped up our series of presentations on the WAVE Launch products with a demonstration by Dean Robertson (Shared Information Solutions) of how server-side applications can take advantage of the new features within Visual Studio 2008 and the .NET 3.5 framework.

BizTalk Server 2006 R3 On Its Way! - Thursday, August 21, 2008

BizTalk Server 2006 R3 has been announced following the latest versions of the wave launch of the products (Windows Server 2008, .Net framework 3.5, Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2008).  This will enable us to continue to take advantage of the improvements in our latest platform releases.  Additional investments in this release to deliver customer-requested capabilities are:

  • New web service registry capabilities with support for UDDI version 3.0
  • Service enablement of applications (through new and enhanced adapters for LOB applications, databases, and legacy/host systems)
  • Service enablement of "edge" devices through BizTalk RFID Mobile
  • Enhanced interoperability and connectivity support for industry protocols (such as SWIFT and EDI)
  • SOA patterns and practices guidance
 

BizTalk Server Performance Optimisation Guide Released!! - Thursday, July 24, 2008

The BizTalk Customer Advisory Team and BizTalk UE team are pleased to announce the first edition of the “Microsoft BizTalk Server Performance Optimization Guide”.

The Microsoft BizTalk Server Performance Optimization Guide is the second instalment in a series of guides intended to provide easily accessible, hands-on guidance to our customer and partner community. This 228 page guide is available on MSDN, TechNet and as a separate DOCX or CHM download alongside the already available “Microsoft BizTalk Operations Guide”  

The guide is based on real-world experience from BizTalk CAT (Rangers), Premier Field Engineering, MCS and other customer engagements. This guide is intended to serve two purposes. Firstly, to provide regularly maintained prescriptive guidance & best practices on optimizing BizTalk Server performance for demanding production environments. Secondly, to provide a foundation for the development of PFE, MCS and Partner training and service offerings.

Microsoft MVP Mick Badran (runs BreezeTraining and also the NSW BizTalk User Group) has just set up a new BizTalk User Group Mailing List! With Microsoft folks, MVPs like Mick and others of similar calibre as members, there are great opportunities for support and discussion about anything BizTalk related.
